    A HyperNet Architecture

    Network virtualization is becoming a fundamental building block of future Internet architectures. By adding networking resources into the “cloud”, it is possible for users to rent virtual routers from the underlying network infrastructure, connect them with virtual channels to form a virtual network, and tailor the virtual network (e.g., load application-specific networking protocols, libraries and software stacks on to the virtual routers) to carry out a specific task. In addition, network virtualization technology allows such special-purpose virtual networks to co-exist on the same set of network infrastructure without interfering with each other. Although the underlying network resources needed to support virtualized networks are rapidly becoming available, constructing a virtual network from the ground up and using the network is a challenging and labor-intensive task, one best left to experts. To tackle this problem, we introduce the concept of a HyperNet, a pre-built, pre-configured network package that a user can easily deploy or access a virtual network to carry out a specific task (e.g., multicast video conferencing). HyperNets package together the network topology configuration, software, and network services needed to create and deploy a custom virtual network. Users download HyperNets from HyperNet repositories and then “run” them on virtualized network infrastructure much like users download and run virtual appliances on a virtual machine. To support the HyperNet abstraction, we created a Network Hypervisor service that provides a set of APIs that can be called to create a virtual network with certain characteristics. To evaluate the HyperNet architecture, we implemented several example Hyper-Nets and ran them on our prototype implementation of the Network Hypervisor. Our experiments show that the Hypervisor API can be used to compose almost any special-purpose network – networks capable of carrying out functions that the current Internet does not provide. Moreover, the design of our HyperNet architecture is highly extensible, enabling developers to write high-level libraries (using the Network Hypervisor APIs) to achieve complicated tasks

    Research on active sound absorption based on minimality of quadratic sum of reflected sound pressure in low frequency

    In this paper, the minimality of the quadratic sum of the reflected sound pressure is used to outline the method of active sound absorption. A piezoelectric ceramic is attached to a simply supported plate, and two microphones are placed in the front of the simply supported plate. The reflected sound pressure is measured. According to the measured reflected sound pressure, the voltage is added to the surface of the piezoelectric ceramic. Then, the simply supported plate is vibrated. Thus, the total sound pressure is expressed as a combination of the reflected sound pressure and the radiated sound pressure. A condition of the quadratic sum being minimal is presented and the voltage (added to the surface of the piezoelectric ceramic) is calculated. At last, the numerical calculation and the experiment are carried out, which demonstrate that the method outlined in this paper is possible

Due to its excellent mechanics and electric coupling performances, piezoelectric material can also be utilized in control system of sound and vibration. However, there have not been any publications outlining the basic equations of reflection or transmission coefficients of driving voltage applied across the layers (single or double) of piezoelectric material. In this paper, two methods – the theoretical method and the electro-acoustic analogy method – are used in order to compare the driving voltage applied across the single and the double layer of active sound surfaces of piezoelectric material. Computational results indicate that the proposed theoretical models are correct and applicable in practical implementations

    Association between hypoalbuminemia and complications after degenerative and deformity-correcting spinal surgeries: A systematic review and meta-analysis

    ObjectiveThe current review was designed to explore if hypoalbuminemia is associated with increased complications in patients undergoing spinal degenerative and deformities surgeries.MethodsThe search for eligible studies was conducted on the databases of PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and CENTRAL up to 20th June 2022. Complication rates were pooled to obtain odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals.ResultsThirteen studies were included. We found that hypoalbuminemia was significantly associated with increased risk of all complications (OR: 2.72 95% CI: 2.04, 3.63 I2 = 58% p < 0.00001), mortality (OR: 7.73 95% CI: 3.81, 15.72 I2 = 0% p < 0.00001), revision surgery (OR: 3.15 95% CI: 1.53, 6.48 I2 = 87% p = 0.002), readmissions (OR: 1.96 95% CI: 1.29, 2.98 I2 = 23% p = 0.02), surgical site infections (OR: 2.97 95% CI: 1.90, 4.63 I2 = 38% p < 0.00001), wound complications (OR: 2.31 95% CI: 1.17, 4.56 I2 = 48% p = 0.02), pulmonary complications (OR: 3.74 95% CI: 2.66, 5.26 I2 = 0% p < 0.00001), renal complications (OR: 3.04 95% CI: 1.22, 7.54 I2 = 0% p = 0.02), cardiac complications (OR: 4.33 95% CI: 2.14, 8.77 I2 = 0% p < 0.0001), urinary tract infections (OR: 2.08 95% CI: 1.80, 2.41 I2 = 0% p < 0.00001), and sepsis (OR: 4.95 95% CI: 1.87, 13.08 I2 = 64% p = 0.01) as compared to those with normal albumin.ConclusionHypoalbuminemia is a significant risk factor for complications after spinal degenerative and deformity surgeries.     On correlation between canopy vegetation and growth indexes of maize varieties with different nitrogen efficiencies

    Studying the canopy spectral reflection characteristics of different N-efficient maize varieties and analyzing the relationship between their growth indicators and spectral vegetation indices can help the breeding and application of N-efficient maize varieties. To achieve the optimal management of N fertilizer resources, developing N-efficient maize varieties is necessary. In this research, maize varieties, i.e., the low-N-efficient (Zhengdan 958, ZD958), the high-N efficient (Xianyu 335, XY335), the double-high varieties (Qiule 368, QL368), and the double inefficient-type varieties (Yudan 606 YD606), were used as materials. Results indicate that nitrogen fertilization significantly increased the vegetation indices NDVI, GNDVI, GOSAVI, and RVI of maize varieties with different nitrogen efficiencies. These findings were consistent with the performance of yield, dry matter mass, and leaf nitrogen content and were also found highest under both medium and high nitrogen conditions in the double-high variety QL368. The correlations of dry matter quality, leaf nitrogen content, yield, and vegetation indices (NDVI, GNDVI, RVI, and GOSAVI) at the filling stage of different N-efficient maize varieties were all highly significant and positive. In this relationship, the best effect was found at the filling stages, with correlation coefficients reaching 0.772–0.942, 0.774–0.970, 0754–0.960, and 0.800–0.960. The results showed that the yield, dry matter weight, and leaf nitrogen content of maize varieties with different nitrogen efficiencies increased first and then stabilized with the increase in the nitrogen application level in different periods, and the highest nitrogen application level of maize yield should be between 270 and 360 kg/hm2. At the filling stage, canopy vegetation index of maize varieties with different nitrogen efficiencies was positively correlated with yield, dry matter weight, and leaf nitrogen content, especially GNDVI and GOSAVI on the leaf nitrogen content. It can be used as a means to predict its growth index

    Association between polymorphisms in the coagulation factor VII gene and coronary heart disease risk in different ethnicities: a meta-analysis

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Previous studies have examined the association between polymorphisms in the coagulation factor VII gene and the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), but those studies have been inconclusive. This study was conducted to assess the associations between these polymorphisms and CHD and evaluated the associations in different ethnicities.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Literature-based searching was conducted to collect data and two methods, namely fixed-effects and random-effects, were performed to pool the odds ratio (OR), together with the 95% confidence interval (CI). Publication bias and between-study heterogeneity were also examined.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Thirty-nine case-control studies of the three polymorphisms, R353Q (rs6046), HVR4 and -323Ins10 (rs36208070) in factor VII gene and CHD were enrolled in this meta-analysis, including 9,151 cases of CHD and 14,099 controls for R353Q, 2,863 cases and 2,727 controls for HVR4, and 2,862 cases and 4,240 controls for -323Ins10. Significant association was only found in Asian population for R353Q (Q vs R), with pooled OR of 0.70(95%CI: 0.55, 0.90). For the -323Ins10 polymorphism (10 vs 0), we found significant associations in both Asian and European populations, with pooled ORs of 0.74(95%CI: 0.61, 0.88) and 0.63(95%CI: 0.53, 0.74), respectively. Marginal significant association was found between HVR4 (H7 vs H5+H6) and CHD (OR = 0.88, 95% CI: 0.78, 1.00). There was no evidence of publication bias, but between-study heterogeneity was found in the analyses.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>The -323Ins10 polymorphism in factor VII gene is significantly associated with CHD in both Asian and European populations, while R353Q polymorphism showed trend for association with CHD in Asians. Lack of association was found for HVR4 polymorphism. Further studies are needed to confirm the association, especially for -323Ins10 polymorphism.</p

    Emilin1 gene and essential hypertension: a two-stage association study in northern Han Chinese population

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Elastogenesis of elastic extracellular matrix (ECM) which was recognized as a major component of blood vessels has been believed for a long time to play only a passive role in the dynamic vascular changes of typical hypertension. Emilin1 gene participated in the transcription of ECM's formation and was recognized to modulate links TGF-β maturation to blood pressure homeostasis in animal study. Recently relevant advances urge further researches to investigate the role of Emilin1 gene in regulating TGF-β signals involved in elastogenesis and vascular cell defects of essential hypertension (EH).</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>We designed a two-stage case-control study and selected three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), rs3754734, rs2011616 and rs2304682 from the HapMap database, which covered Emilin1 gene. Totally 2,586 subjects were recruited from the International Collaborative Study of Cardiovascular Disease in Asia (InterASIA). In stage 1, all the three SNPs of the Emilin1 gene were genotyped and tested within a subsample including 503 cases and 490 controls, significant SNPs would enter into stage 2 including 814 cases with hypertension and 779 controls and analyze on the basis of testing total 2,586 subjects.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>In stage 1, single locus analyses showed that SNPs rs3754734 and rs2011616 had significant association with EH (P < 0.05). In stage 2, weak association for dominant model were observed by age stratification and odds ratio (ORs) of TG+GG vs. TT of rs3754734 were 0.768 (0.584-1.009), 0.985 (0.735-1.320) and 1.346 (1.003-1.806) in < 50, 50-59 and ≥ 60 years group and ORs of GA+AA vs. GG of rs2011616 were 0.745 (0.568-0.977), 1.013 (0.758-1.353) and 1.437 (1.072-1.926) in < 50, 50-59 and ≥ 60 years group respectively. Accordingly, significant interactions were detected between genotypes of rs3754734 and rs2011616 and age for EH, and ORs were 1.758 (1.180-2.620), P = 0.006 and 1.903 (1.281-2.825), P = 0.001, respectively. Results of haplotypes analysis showed that there weren't any haplotypes associated with EH directly, but the interaction of hap2 (GA) and age-group found to be significant after being adjusted for the covariates, OR was 1.220 (1.031-1.444), P value was 0.020.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Our findings don't support positive association of Emilin1 gene with EH, but the interaction of age and genotype variation of rs3754734 and rs2011616 might increase the risk to hypertension.</p
